Administrative Council
This group meets several times a year, for the Chairs of committees and ministry staff to come together and report on church activities and  vote on important matters of administration and ministry.   In order to provide oversight and leadership throughout the year, the Administrative Council serves as our Church Conference’s executive agency, monitoring ministry progress and voting on important matters.   The Council’s primary duties include setting strategic direction for the church, overseeing the church’s governance and administration, and ensuring that First Methodist’s ministries are accomplishing the church’s purpose, vision and plans.

Committee on Lay Leadership
The Committee on Lay Leadership oversees the identification and development of volunteer leadership at First Methodist.  Initiatives include the nominations process and developing tools for church leaders.

Finance Committee
The Finance Committee develops and administers a coordinated plan of fiscal and administrative policies and procedures for the church. It oversees the financial health, the annual audit, provides financial direction; and communicates the church’s financial condition to the Church Council. Meetings are generally held on a quarterly basis, or more frequently as needed.

Staff Parish Committee
The Staff Parish Committee acts as a liaison between staff, clergy and the congregation.  The committee reflects biblically on the role and work of our pastors and staff as they carry out their responsibilities. This committee also works to ensure that FUMC is a fulfilling place to work.  Meetings are usually held every few months, or as needed.

Board of Trustees
This Board is charged with the care and maintenance of church property- real, personal and intellectual.  It holds title to property, buildings and equipment. It is also responsible for managing and receiving property for the church.  Major items include building repair/renovation, space planning, disaster planning, traffic management, and security.

Other Committees
Every area of ministry at First Methodist answers to a corresponding committee.  Members are requested to participate in one of these committees for a three-year period of service.  If you have questions about other committees, please ask the ministry director.

The Lay Leadership Committee is offering a two-hour leadership training workshop on SUNDAY, JANUARY 28, 2:00-4:00, in the Connection Worship Center. If you lead or serve on any FUMC committee or council, we strongly encourage you to attend this workshop.
