Position: Afterschool Care Supervisor

Reports to: Weekday Director

Hours: Employment runs during the school year and is typically 25 hours per week; Monday – Friday Noon/ 1PM to 6 PM plus the occasional school year holidays of 7 AM to 6 PM (separate position of Summer Camp Supervisor which may or may not be same person)

General Responsibilities: The Afterschool Care Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations of our afterschool care program including planning, coordination, and supervision of the program to ensure that our families receive quality services with provide for growth in academics, social emotional development, and health and wellness. In addition, he/ she ensures focus on programming that promotes healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, and implement structured, high quality programming which aligns withschool day learning
  • Ensure the use of positive behavior guidance among program staff members
  • With the director is responsible for recruitment, hiring, training, orientation,supervision, evaluation, and professional development of program staff
  • Monitor student attendance, staff hours, and secure collection of program fees
  • Maintenance of open, effective communication and engagement/ interaction amongthe programs, partners, and parents/ families
  • Daily arrangement of drivers (including self) and monitors for pickup of all students fromschool as well as field trips as planned
  • Professional phone etiquette and oversight of phone usage
  • Institute with weekday director a system for communicating with parents on a regularbasis
  • Design and implement regular communication to the parents and communityhighlighting the successes of the afterschool care program
  • Develop and instill a strong, positive program culture among staff, students, families,and our church community

    Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects or tools or controls, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit – at times on the floor with children – and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.


  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • Two years paid experience in a licensed childcare facility or licensed/ accreditedkindergarten program
  • Willing to complete requirements required by the MS State Department of Health inorder to obtain Director Designee certification (three mandatory training sessions and

    15 contact hours of staff development annually)

  • CDL driver’s license for bus or ability to quickly obtain once hired
  • First Aid/ CPR certified or able to be quickly once hired
  • Tummy Safe certified or able to be quickly once hired
  • Motivated, energetic, punctual, responsible, and able to exhibit a positive attitude to bean excellent role model for children and staff members
  • Able to lead, teach, and interact with parents, staff, teachers, children, and thecommunity
