First United Methodist Church of Clinton, MS is seeking a Director of Weekday Ministry who will be responsible for the general administration of Weekday Programs including but not limited to the recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and termination of staff, planning, and budgeting. The ultimate responsibility of the director is to make sure Preschool and Mother’s Morning Out programs operate smoothly and efficiently while following the MS State Department of Health Rules and Regulations.

Direct the Preschool and Mother’s Morning Out Programs and summer programs.

Recruit, interview, hire, supervise, train, evaluate, and terminate preschool teachers, MMO supervisor and caregivers. Arrange for substitute teachers as needed

Help teachers and other staff prepare programs, emphasizing health, nutrition, safety, rest and relaxation, academic growth, physical activity, and other identified needs of the children.

Coordinate staff development hours for the Preschool employees (Minimum of 15 in-service hours are required for each staff member).

Conduct monthly preschool staff meetings

Coordinate weekly playdays with the teachers.

Assign children to appropriate teachers

Responsible for teacher conferences with parents; counsels with parents & children in confidence as needed.

Plan special events throughout the year, including orientation programs and holiday events, school pictures, and fundraisers; communicates with parents about program activities; recruits parent volunteers.

Oversee preparation of menus for snacks and lunches

Responsible for collecting money on all accounts.

Prepare plans and budgets.

Oversee purchase of equipment and supplies.
Maintain complete and accurate files for each enrolled child and each employee per the MS State Rules and Regulation Handbook, including vaccination records.

Oversee required background and reference checks for employees.
Update annually the Preschool and Mother’s Morning Out Handbook.

Work with the Health Department to keep the programs and facilities up to code.  (Facilities include the lower two floors of the Education Building, the gym, & the playground.)

Conducts fire and tornado drills once a month per State Health Department.

Responsible for onsite inspection by the Fire Marshal and Health Department.

Responsible for any printed Material for the Preschool Program.

Oversee other general tasks for the program.

At least 21 years of age.

A bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, elementary education, child care, special education, psychology (with emphasis on child psychology), or family and consumer sciences (with emphasis on child development), or equivalent degree from another child-related field or course of study.

This is a full-time, 12-month position.
