First United Methodist Church – Clinton, MS

Position: Summer Camp Supervisor (K – 5th grade)

Reports to: Weekday Director

Hours: Employment runs during the summer and is typically 40 hours per week; Monday – Friday operation hours of 7 AM to 6 PM (8 hours of each day which supervisor is to be present)

General Responsibilities: The Summer Camp Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations of our summer camp program including planning, coordination, and supervision of the program to ensure that our families receive quality services with provide for growth in academics, social emotional development, and health and wellness.  In addition, he/ she ensures focus on programming that promotes healthy living, social responsibility, and youth development.

Specific Responsibilities:

·      Plan, schedule, and implement structured, high quality programming which aligns with school day learning

·      Ensure the use of positive behavior guidance among program staff members

·      With the director is responsible for recruitment, hiring, training, orientation, supervision, evaluation, and professional development of program staff

·      Monitor student attendance, staff hours, and secure collection of program fees

·      Maintenance of open, effective communication and engagement/ interaction among the programs, partners, and parents/ families

·      Arrangement of drivers (including self) and monitors for field trips as planned

·      Professional phone etiquette and oversight of phone usage

·      Institute with weekday director a system for communicating with parents on a regular basis

·      Design and implement regular communication to the parents and community highlighting the successes of the summer camp program

·      Develop and instill a strong, positive program culture among staff, students, families, and our church community

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects or tools or controls, talk, and hear.  The employee is frequently required to sit – at times on the floor with children – and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.


·      Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

·      Two years paid experience in a licensed childcare facility or licensed/ accredited kindergarten program

·      Willing to complete requirements required by the MS State Department of Health in order to obtain Director Designee certification (three mandatory training sessions and 15 contact hours of staff development annually)

·      CDL driver’s license for bus or ability to quickly obtain once hired

·      First Aid/ CPR certified or able to be quickly once hired

·      Tummy Safe certified or able to be quickly once hired

·      Motivated, energetic, punctual, responsible, and able to exhibit a positive attitude to be an excellent role model for children and staff members

·      Able to lead, teach, and interact with parents, staff, teachers, children, and the community

·      Committed to the mission/ philosophy of the First United Methodist Church Weekday Program

·      Dedicated to the pursuit of education for both yourself, your staff, and your students

·      Knowledge of and ability to facilitate MS State Department of Health regulations
