The scholarship fund was established June 5, 1988 in memory of Suzanne Elaine Shaw. Elaine Shaw was the daughter of Annie Lou and Fred Shaw. She was the sister of Sara Shaw and Fred Shaw II.

The Suzanne Elaine Shaw Memorial Scholarship is awarded to First United Methodist students who are pursuing degrees in health-related fields or in full-time Christian vocations. The scholarship is awarded in the fall of the year and is funded by the offering left on the communion rail, that will be added to the principal of the fund, the first Sunday in June and will be transferred to the MS United Methodist Foundation to be deposited in the Suzanne Shaw Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Epworth United Methodist Church awarded the scholarship from 1988 to 2009 then the responsibility was transferred to First United Methodist Church of Clinton. This year’s offering will be collected on June 6th, 2021. You may donate at any time to the scholarship fund by sending your gift to the church office and memo Shaw Scholarship.
