MESSAGE FROM RICKY

Dear Friends,

Thank you for the prayers of blessing you extended to me this past Sunday in worship. I will carry them with me as I ship out for Officer Development School this Saturday. The time will fly by and I will be back with you at the end of September.

I won’t be writing to you as regularly over the next weeks, but I do plan on sending updates from time to time. And, if y’all are on good behavior, I’ll send some pictures of me getting yelled at by Drill Instructors!

In the meantime, y’all have a busy and important September ahead of you. There will be great Bible studies, Wednesday night dinners, Choir dedication Sunday, and much more.
I can’t wait to return and hear about all the fun you’ve had!

One thing we’re adding to the September calendar are a series of Town Hall meetings on the subject of the current and future state of our denomination. These meetings will be led by our lay officers and will focus on sharing information and receiving questions. These aren’t meetings to decide, but to inform. There will be a variety of days and times to accommodate everyone’s schedules. Please stay on the lookout for more information on the locations and times of these meetings.

I know that thinking about the future can bring some fear and anxiety. But I’m reminded of the Apostle Paul’s words in Philippians 4:6-7, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

I think that’s good advice not just for these meetings, but for every day of our life. Let’s not let anxiety steal the peace which comes from Jesus! (I’ll try to remember that when swimming laps and running obstacles!) See you soon!

Grace and Peace,

Ricky
