MESSAGE FROM RICKY

Last week was a difficult time for many in the life of our congregation and community, as we hosted several funerals. Thank you to everyone who served, called the families, prayed for and attended these services. It is a reminder that the body of Christ serves as a tangible sign of the presence of God.

I was also reminded this past weekend of the entire journey of faith as we baptized 3 people and began the confirmation journey with 10 students, and celebrated Holy Communion. As we welcome people to the faith through baptism, help them to claim the faith as their own through confirmation, gather around the Lord’s Table, and honor the memory of those saints who depart from us; we are living out the milestones of our faith together. Following Jesus is a life-long endeavor, and God’s grace in these moments sustains us all.

As we approach the beginning of our yearly journey through Lent, to the Easter that lies beyond, I encourage you to be on the lookout next week for how we will observe and commemorate this year. Lent is a holy season of preparation, marked by prayer and fasting. I encourage you to prepare now, by thinking of the ways you will choose to mark the journey this year.

Grace and Peace,
Ricky
