MESSAGE FROM RICKY

Dear Friends,

Leadership in the United Methodist Church is a shared endeavor. No one person can make all the decisions about money, property, programs or mission. We have committees, officers, task groups that work together to accomplish our overall goal: to make disciples of Jesus Christ.

Our leadership committees and officers begin their new terms in February of every year. You can see a list of these officers by clicking on the link below. I invite you to pray for them as they serve us in these important ways.

Prior to COVID, we shifted the way in which our church intended to recruit people to serve. Rather than try to fill endless list of committees, we invited people to sign up for the areas that most interested them and spoke to their heart of service. If you remember way back before the pandemic, we had a Ministry Fair in March of 2020. This was a great day where people signed up for all our different ministries and missions while enjoying a great breakfast during the Sunday School hour. Also, if March 2020 rings a bell its when the world shut down! Our best laid plans for a new reinvigorated committee and work area structure got derailed.

But, I’m very happy to share that we are re-engaging with that process in 2022 and I want to share two important dates.

On Sunday, February 6 at 2:00 p.m. we are having a Leadership Orientation and Visioning meeting. This is for all our committees and work areas to have a time of learning and dreaming. It’s also open to the whole church, so watch for details about location.

Then on Sunday, March 6, let’s have another Ministry Fair. Any and all of our groups will be invited to set up a table, bring a breakfast food to share, and recruit people to serve as their heart leads! We’ll pray mightily that this fair doesn’t shut the world down again!

As we wrap up our January sermon series: Seek Jesus and Serve Others, I’ll be challenging all of us to live into this theme for all of 2022. Let us commit ourselves to seeking after Jesus with our whole self and serve others in his name.

Grace and Peace,
Ricky
