MESSAGE FROM RICKY
Hey Friends,
I’m excited to share with you all that next month we will be welcoming a new staff member to our team. On August 8th, Nick Flatt will join us as Director of Youth Ministries. Nick is a Mississippi native who moved to Georgia, but always kept his home state ties. He grew up working summers as a counselor at Camp Lake Stephens in Oxford. He’s a graduate of Valdosta State, where he ran cross country (including competing in tournaments here in Clinton). Through his years working in Camping Ministry he developed a heart for youth and the desire to see them grow in their discipleship walk. Below you’ll find a little note from Nick. Please begin to pray for Nick, for our students, and this important time of transition.
I also want to say how grateful I am to Katie Giedd who has been serving as our Youth Pastor, in addition to her other associate pastor responsibilities, for the past 12 months. When she was appointed last year, we all thought she would be filing in as Youth Pastor for just a short time. But she dove in to make sure our students continued to have great experiences like Breakthru, Bigstuf, Sunday United Nights; and even added some great new traditions. Fortunately, she’s not leaving, but will now be able to refocus on the other important aspects of discipleship formation for all ages.
When you see Katie, please join me in expressing gratitude for a year of “other duties as assigned” and for loving our students faithfully and well. Be on the lookout for more ways you can help serve our students, their families, and partner with Nick in the months ahead!
