MESSAGE FROM RICKY
We have a lot of great events coming up in August that I want to make sure are on your radar.
August 8th is our Promotion Sunday as we celebrate our kids “graduating” to their next grade in Sunday school. Also, since it’s the Sunday before most of our community schools resume we encourage all our students to bring their backpacks to church that day for Blessing of the BackPacks. Also, we’d love our teachers to be present too so we can say a special prayer for you!
Also, in August we will hold a training for our Acolyte program. Acolytes serve in the Traditions service as “bearers of the light” and providing other assistance during the worship service. Kids in 3rd through 6th grade can serve as acolytes. We will have two opportunities for training, August 8th and August 15th at 8:15am in the Sanctuary. You only need to attend one of the trainings, but we wanted to provide a couple options. Contact me if you have any questions!
Of course August 11 is the start of our Wednesday night programs. Our Discipleship Pastor, Katie Giedd, has been hard at work coordinating some great programs and studies for all ages. I really do hope you make Wednesday nights a priority this fall.
On August 15 we will have a special moment in both worship services as we present our 3rd graders with their own Bibles on behalf of the church. I always love sharing God’s word with a new generation of disciples!
One more thing! We will also hold a New Member Class on August 15, 22, and 29. Held during the Sunday School hour at 10:00am, this three-week class covers the basic beliefs, history, and practices of the United Methodist Church. It’s a great opportunity for people considering membership, people who have recently joined, or more seasoned members wanting a refresher. I’ll share more details about the location once we get an idea of how many people want to attend. To sign up, or if you have any questions, email me (email@example.com) or call the church office (601-924-6671).
And this isn’t even all that we’re doing in August, just a sampling! So make sure you stay tuned, read your emails, and watch for more information on all the exciting things we’re doing this fall.
Grace and Peace,
