Local Missions

Other Ministries: Sunday School classes and individuals also support these ministries along a variety of other ministries.

Mississippi Conference – Part of the West Jackson district, these apportionments are used for missions locally and internationally.
Boy Scouts – This troop is supported by FUMC Clinton. The mission of the Boy Scouts is to prepare young men to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Kairos Prison Ministry– Bringing Christ’s love and forgiveness to all incarcerated individuals, their families, and those who work with them.
Stewpot/Billy Brumfield House – a homeless shelter and meal resource located in downtown Jackson.
Clinton Community Christian Corporation – a  thrift shop and food bank for people in need in the Clinton area.
Methodist Children’s Home– An orphanage and foster home program which has provided care to Mississippi’s most vulnerable children and families for more than a century.

International Missions

Mellon Missionary Support – Since 2009, Alli and the Hard Places Community have worked to rescue and care for children caught in the child sex trade in Phnom Pehn, Cambodia. The ministry continues to expand to other geographical areas

Christian World Missions  – CWM supports Ghuna Kumar, an Indian pastor and evangelist. Ghuna has planted many churches and baptized thousands of Hindus who now follow Jesus. His ministry, Gospel Friends, consist of an orphanage, Bible College, nursing school, a school, sewing courses, many local pastors, and other ministries.

Carlsons – Greg and Shirley Carlson transitioned to join the One Mission Society Australia team in Melbourne, Australia. Greg is the missionary care coach for the Asia-Pacific region, encouraging and coaching missionaries for healthy relationships with God, themselves, and others. Shirley connects with donors through phone calls, letters, visits, and prayer. “So many are committed partners with OMS ministries and missionaries, and they deeply appreciate being heard, thanked and prayed with.”

Greg, from Jackson, Mississippi, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in social work from Baylor University. Greg and Shirley have Master of Divinity degrees from Asbury Theological Seminary.
Shirley is a registered nurse and midwife and an ordained elder in the Wesleyan Methodist Church. Born in New Zealand and reared in Australia, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in theology from Kingsley College (Melbourne, Australia).

Greg adds, “My faith was nurtured through the ministries of FUMC Clinton where I grew up, and the fruit of my disciples is an enduring outflow of the ministry and prayers of my home church.” 

Mercy Plate – A ministry of Mercy Plate Church in Veracruz, Nicaragua founded by Sigard Monroe and his wife Elsie. The ministry provides meals and fellowship for senior citizens as well as hosting and working with visiting ministry teams.

Nigeria – Rev. Simon Ernyi, pastor, church planter, with a mission minded ministry in a dangerous part of the world. His ministry, through our gifts, has built churches, drilled water wells, and reached out to the local villages in many ways.
