MESSAGE FROM RICKY

Dear Friends,

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas. We had a wonderful celebration of Christmas Eve Services here at the church. Almost 600 people attended in person or joined us online to worship the new born Jesus! What a great way to end the year!

I’m also very excited about our new sermon series starting this Sunday. In January we set our eyes on the year ahead and commit ourselves to a renewed vision for our church. In 2022 we commit ourselves to Seek Jesus and Serve Others. All this month, we will look at what scripture teaches us about our call as disciples to Seek after Jesus with everything we are, and in response to Serve the world in his name. I hope that if you’re making New Year’s Resolutions, that one of them will be a commitment to starting the year in worship!

Speaking of the new year, I want you to put another date on your calendar. On January 6th at 7:00 p.m. we will participate in a community remembrance service for COVID-19. Each one of us has been impacted by loss as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ve lost co-workers, friends, and family. Often we were unable to even gather to say goodbye. So, a group of churches are planning a service of lament and remembrance. We have been asked to host this service in our Sanctuary that evening. That day is also the Epiphany, the official end of the liturgical observance of Christmas. This is a day we traditionally commemorate that Jesus is the Light of the World. And so, as we gather in the shadow of a difficult two years, we will lift up the hope of Jesus, who brings light into the darkest moments. I hope you will join us for this time of worship, prayer, and community encouragement.

Grace and Peace,
Ricky
